Rashes

What Causes Rashes?

A rash occurs usually when the skin is going through an abnormal phase which causes the color and the texture of the skin to change dramatically. Rashes can occur due to inflammation of the skin. Rashes typically appear as red, scaly, itchy and/or dry surfaces of the skin. Rashes can be caused by a variety of methods including cellulitis, lichen planus, lupus, pityriasis rosea, allergies, poor hygiene, friction and anxiety.

Rashes are often seen as harmless and temporary. Although this is often the case, it’s never obvious how serious rashes can be. Rashes appear in several forms, manifesting as blisters or blotches. Some rashes come and go, while others remain indefinitely. With conditions like psoriasis, it’s not uncommon for individuals to have rashes appear and vanish regularly.

When Should I Worry About Rashes?

If you or someone you know has a rash and is experiencing any of the following symptoms, consulting a dermatologist is recommended:

  • All Over The Body
  • Accompanying Fever
  • Sudden and Rapid Spread
  • Visible Blistering
  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Crusting
  • Visible Yellow/Green Fluid

If any of these symptoms are present, it’d be best to consult with a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.
